Amsterdam
Architectural tours in Amsterdam:

The historical centre of Amsterdam with the canals was realised in the 17th century.
In the 20th century the south part of the city was extended (Amsterdam-Zuid).
Berlage made the urban design for this part. Architects of the Amsterdam School as Piet Kramer and Michel de Klerk took part in the realisation.
After 1945 another big extension took place. The Western Garden Cities (New West)were built after design of the General Extension Plan.
From the eighties of the 20th century the Eastern Harbout District, Eastern Docklands, is transformed in a living and working area.
At the moment developments on the Zuid-As (South-Ax), Amsterdam-Noord (North) and on IJburg shows the ambition of the city.
In future the Zuidas will be Amsterdam's business hub.
Amsterdam-Noord is redeveloping former industrial sites into living and working area's.
IJburg will exist of seven new isles in the IJmeer. On these isles 18,000 dwellings for 45,000 people will be built.
At the moment more then 13,000 people live on IJburg.
Almere
Tour on architecture and urban design in Almere, a city with 183.00 people.
The new city-centre of Rem Koolhaas, OMA, with the possibility of visiting an apartment in one of the new blocks
and an explanation of the centre at the model.
Rotterdam
Rotterdam has 580,000 inhabitants. In World War II the inner city was completely destroyed.
After the war the centre was rebuilt in a completely different way of that of the old city.
Examples of the architecture of the last fifty years are to be found here.
The harbour of Rotterdam is the second biggest of the world.
Some parts of the harbour near the inner-city are not in use anymore and now transformed in living and working areas.
The Kop van Zuid and the Lloydkwartier (Müllerpier and Lloydpier) are examples of this new development.
Utrecht
Utrecht, De Uithof
The Uithof is the University Campus in Utrecht. In recent years the site has undergone a major change.
Rem Koolhaas, OMA and Art Zaaijer have made a new masterplan.
New buildings of OMA, Neutelings Riedijk, UN Studio, Marlies Rohmer and Köther and Salman are adjusted.
